Artist Statement

My name is Mia Peña and I am 17 years old. I am an ambitious hard worker, born and raised in Los Angeles. I have loved photography ever since I was a little girl, from taking pictures on a disposable camera to being a student photographer for my high school’s yearbook. I enjoy capturing various forms of light with my photography as well as highlighting the beauty of nature. I am an observer at heart, which allows me to admire and capture many candid moments. I like to view myself as someone who is approachable and friendly. I love everything that is art. I love making my ideas into a reality and showing my perspective of everyday life. My inspiration and my motivation comes from those around me as I seek to express my thoughts and messages through photographs. My preferred photographs are of landscapes, street life, and candid portraits. I enjoy capturing raw emotions and moments as well as resculpting how one may view their everyday scenery.
